Written about everyday life, which can be a simple, yet emotionally profound kind of lyrical prose that all of us can relate to, Long Life was “planned for release months ago, not knowing it would be so suited for the time we’re living in today.” As the songwriter says, “I am hoping it will bring others as much comfort and lightness as it gave me when I needed it.”
Long Life comes with quirky visuals, which were filmed in Madrid to illustrate playfully, raw footage of ordinary people and their lives. Lloyd stated at the time, they had no idea the situation that would be escalating in Spain just weeks later. The serendipity of its recording, to him, is something special.
“It’s a long life, when you don’t know where to go. I’m not sure what to say, do you like it anyway? The money’s pretty great, but you’re 20 and you’ll go grey.” Lloyd challenges listeners to get out there and live, since we don’t know what time we’re guaranteed here on earth.
Waiting For Smith has been featured in British GQ. They garnered extensive radio play from the likes of HUW Stephens on Radio 1, Dermot O’Leary and Jo Whiley on Radio 2, Tom Robinson on 6 Music, and Maz Tappuni on Radio X.
